Faculty & Graduate Student Workshop for Army Research Institute BAA Research Areas

Purpose:  KU’s Office of Graduate Military Programs and KU Office of Research’s Research Development Unit invite faculty from the Leavenworth National Security Education Consortium (KU, KSU, UMKC, University of Saint Mary and the US Army Command and General Staff College) for a workshop to promote research opportunities that align with the Army Research Institute (ARI) Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) research interests.  Additionally, the workshop aims to develop a graduate student pipeline into the Consortium Research Fellows Program (CRFP).

Presenters:  In addition to ARI, the workshop will include program managers and faculty from Army University (IRAD), the Center for Army Leadership, the Army War College, and the CRFP.

Research areas of interest include:

ARI’s “Basic Research Areas of Interest”:

  1. Science of Measurement of Individuals and Collectives;
  2. Understanding Multi-level and Organizational Dynamics;
  3. Context of Behavior in Military Environments; and
  4. Formal and Informal Learning Environments. 

 

ARI’s “Applied Research Areas of Interest”:

  1. Holistic Personnel Assessment and Statistical Innovations for Talent Management:
  2. Leader Competences for Complexity and Uncertainty:
  3. Team Assignment and Performance:
  4. Assessing and Developing Technological Fluency for the Future Force.

 

Format:  The workshop will be in person and begin with a plenary session for 90 minutes.  During this plenary session, program managers will provide information on their programs, research priorities, and recommendations for doing business with their institution.  Following the plenary session and Q&A period, breakout rooms are available for faculty to meet with one another and program managers to discuss their research.
