Public Affairs and Administration 

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) is a professional degree for those who seek leadership positions in public service. The MPA is designed to develop the skills necessary to confront society’s most important problems. Based in the theories of social science disciplines, the MPA develops each student’s knowledge and understanding of issues in public service and effective administration of public organizations, providing flexibility to the student in career choices.

Kansas tops the U.S. News & World Report rankings for city management and urban policy. The department is currently ranked alongside the University of Michigan at No. 7 in overall program rankings.

Maj. Robin Montgomery, center, graduated in 2009 with an MPA from KU while attending the CGSC at Fort Leavenworth. He recently served as Aide-de-Camp to Admiral Mike Mullen, the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, pictured to his left.
